Chill out at Growlers in Torquay

Growlers

GROWLERS

Café by day, restaurant by night, the magnificent ambience of Growlers is best served with a glass of fine wine and a serious commitment to chilling out. Whether you’re seeking breakfast in the courtyard, lunch on the deck, or dinner in the restaurant by the fire, you’re sure to love the laid-back friendly atmosphere of Growlers.

Located on Torquay’s famous boulevard, Growlers makes the best of its popular beach side location and stunning views. And according to Growlers’ owner Daryle Hill, Growlers is 100% committed to supporting the local community by only purchasing locally grown produce.

Daryle’s commitment to the region is astonishing. He tells us that for six years he commuted from Torquay to Dandenong on a daily basis. Daryle says his eventual decision to stay put in Torquay was one of the best things that he’s ever done, and that he loves the vibrancy of the region.

The head chef at Growlers is English, and much of her food is influenced by her origins. Their traditional English fare includes dishes such as Beef Wellington, and also Smoked Haddock served with potatoes and a poached egg. Daryle says that while he loves the smoked haddock, his sentimental favourite is actually the new kid’s menu which he has named after his nephews: Patty’s Parma and Nicky’s Fish and Chips.

Daryle has been in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, and was the General Manager of The Dandenong Club and The Manningham Club for the majority of his career. His staff are relaxed and friendly, and, like all good venues, they know the names of all their regulars. Growlers is a unique restaurant with local popularity and wide appeal, be sure to check it out if you are in the area.
